WHAT IS ‘DOL’?
- ‘Dol‘ is a word for Korean birthday celebration in Korean and is also called ‘Doljanchi‘.
- It is important for Korean celebrate the first birthday for a baby.
- Celebrate the first birthday (Dol) of your baby with a traditional Korean rice cake!

WHY IS RICECAKE?
- Dol (Korean: 돌), or Doljanchi is a word for Korean birthday celebration. Especially, the first birthday, cheot-dol (Korean: 첫 돌) is the most important celebration to a baby.
- Doljabee (Korean: 돌잡이) is the main part of the celebration that a baby picks up what attracts him or her on the table. This table will be prepared with dozens of Ddeok(Ricecake), fruits, specific food along with other items like a spool of thread, pencil. The items that the baby picks up are said to predict the baby’s future.
- Why Ddeok(Ricecake) is important? Ddeok or Ricecake has meaning of being RICH!
